Portland Nursery Community Partners
We believe strongly in our community, and we believe that gardening is able to enrich the lives of people of all ages.
Portland Nursery annually contributes to nearly 400 schools and organizations. Many times it’s a gift card for a fundraising event or a one-time in-kind donation for a special project. But for over a quarter of these groups we are proud to have an ongoing, sustaining partnership. These are garden projects that involve children, youth, the elderly and families in the active pursuit of gardening. They are plant-focused groups that add much to the collective wisdom and knowledge and enjoyment of the world of plants; schools with an active and ongoing gardening program; service organizations who work with at-risk youth. Their stories are as varied as the individuals they serve.

It is inspiring to see how many schools and youth-oriented service organizations are including gardening in their curriculums and programs. We hear stories, time and again, of the joys of discovery and wonder as kids grow their own fresh food and beautiful flowers for the first time. These young gardeners are learning lessons both academic and social; about responsibility and about compassion. At Portland Nursery, we are pleased to be contributing to these groups, to encourage them in their efforts.
Check back often as we feature the stories of our Community Partners.
See our latest partner feature on Zenger Farm. (there should be a link, yes?) Our previous partners are archived so you can read about some you many have missed. Check back regularly as we add more stories to our collection.
