We love to give back to the community with our Portland Nursery special events. Every September we sponsor two annual community events. You can count on us decking out the nursery with all our best displays for a great garden party.
Senior Gardening Day is held at Portland Nursery on Division. Legacy Health System Horticultural Therapy Department, Home Instead and Portland Nursery team up and provide a day of hands-on activities and demonstrations geared especially for the elder gardeners in our community. Annual benefit for Mt. Tabor Middle School will be held at Portland Nursery on Stark with a dinner and silent auction on September 27, 2008. Local musicians accompany this fundraising event. Eco Roof Basics with Michael Geffel, the Ecotrust building gardener. Michael will speak about his experiences with the eco roof at the Ecotrust building. You will also learn about the benefits of, and plants for eco roofs. Lastly he will highlight references for structural guide lines.

Brent Ward of Portland Nursery is back by popular demand to speak about his favorite subject: pruning. Highlights include appropriate timing, the best tools and proper techniques for pruning woody plants.
Rainwater Harvesting with Brad of Harvest the Sky, Portland’s only rainwater consulting and installation resource. Brad will talk about the benefits of harvesting rainwater, as well as collection options, receptacles, and uses.
