2008 Spring Employment
We have completed our hiring for seasonal help. If you wold like to have your application on file, download and mail a completed application to the location where you are interested in working, our Stark location or our Division location.

Applicants having plant knowledge is definitely a plus, but customer service and cashiering experience is of primary importance.

We are looking for individuals who are willing to work as part of a team. People who can multitask like crazy and who are undaunted, if not downright inspired, by an atmosphere of high energy and lots of stimulus. Spring at Portland Nursery is a fast-paced romp and intensely busy, and to make it a good time had by all we need a staff who can work together and stay calm, enthusiastic and cheerful "under fire."

Duties include some or all of the following:

• Cashiering
• Answering multi-line phone and directing calls
• Customer assistance: locating/selecting plant material, supplies, problem-solving
• Maintenance of plant material and hardgoods
• Assisting with creation of displays

Skills we're looking for:

• Ability to work well under pressure
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work cooperatively

It's hard work and can be a lot of fun besides; we guarantee you'll learn a lot in a short amount of time, whether you have a beginner's interest in plants or are already a seasoned gardener!
