We've organized our plants in to sections that we think will most benefit you and your choices for your garden. In each section, we present our favorites, some tips for planting and culture information.
Start here with our Annuals Section where we give you our favorites for sun and shade, bedding plants, tender succulents and fuchsias, and annual vines.
Bonsai
- The ancient art of Bonsai has been passed down from master to apprentice for many centuries. At Portland Nursery, you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy the miniature world of Bonsai -- we make it easy for everyone to succeed at this form of containerized planting.
Container Gardens
- Whether you like to do it yourself, need something quick, or would like a custom professional design, we have you covered.
Fruits & berries
- At Portland Nursery, we bring you a broad selection of fruit bearing trees, shrubs, and vines. Our buyers start ordering in the winter months and by February our stock is filling up. Check out our helpful buyer's lists to see what varieties we are stocking.
Grasses & Bamboo
- Grasses are a great choice to add structure, color and movement to the garden. Work them into any garden style as focal points or accents and you'll be delighted with their graceful ease.
Groundcovers
- It is important to choose the right ground cover to fit your needs and the site requirements. Our groundcover sections are organized according to requirements such as evergreen, paths and drought tolerant to make your selection process easier.
Houseplants
- We love our plants in our gardens and in our homes. We carry a wide range of houseplants including Bonsai, orchids, cacti and succulents. At our Division store, we offer you separate houses just to display our tropicals, another house for cacti and succulents and a broad conservatory area stocked with every other houseplant you'd ever want!
Northwest Natives
- Portland Nursery carries a wide selection of native flora, mostly originating from the Willamette Valley, and often specifically from the Portland area. Occasionally we have plants from east of the Cascades or southern Oregon that are prime candidates for a container or rock garden bringing their own distinct personality to your garden.
Perennials
- Sun loving perennials offer blooms, great foliage, or architectural structure for areas that have full blasting sun, just afternoon sun or sun morning to noon. Whether you have a container to fill or a landscape to decorate we will have a perennial to spice things up.
Seeds & Bulbs
- Our bulb and seed buyers bring in an extensive selection of the most beautiful, well-known and soon to be new favorites for your garden and containers. Imagine summer and fall in your garden full of fragrant lilies, enormous Dahlias, regal Gladiolus, hummingbird-attracting Crocosmia, and the dramatic prehistoric foliage of elephant ears to name a few. Come in today to explore the myriad of spring-planted bulbs that will enhance your garden for years to come.
Shrubs, Roses & Vines
- Each year at Portland Nursery we carry more than 300 varieties of roses. Our roses begin to arrive in January and our selection is complete by the beginning of March.
Trees
- At Portland Nursery, we bring you a broad selection of trees from evergreens to deciduous, decorative to fruit bearing. We proudly support local northwest growers with most of our trees grown in Oregon & Washington. To you the customer, this means trees that are better adapted to our climate, helping the planet by saving on fuel and transportation costs, and supporting our local economy. Our tree lists provide you with a variety of tree sizes and types for the garden.
Vegetables & Herbs
- We strive to bring gardeners an expansive vegetable and herb selection along with expert advice to help you be successful. This includes the tried and true varieties as well as a vast heirloom selection You will also find a selection of medicinal herbs and edibles. We are pleased to provide an equally large and diverse organic selection!
